FARNHAM UTD RAPIDS SECURE ANOTHER WIN
On Sunday July 8th Farnham United Rapids won the Beaulieu Tornament, Girls u11 trophy in fine style. They won 5 games & drew 1 in the league round robin with Sophie & Gabi netting 1 goal a piece, Julia bagging 2 & Maisie hitting 4. Coming top they then had a tough semi - final against 4th placed Beaulieu Orange & it looked like it was going to go to a penalty shoot out untill Maisie hit a screamer into the top corner - a goal worthy of winning any game! The final was against a good Camberley team and again it was a tight afair won by a single goal scored by Gabi. Through-out the whole tournament the Rapids didn't concede a goal. Great work by the defence & Laura in goal.
Rapids were: Laura, Rebecca, Sophie, Julia, Mel, Gabi, Lois & Maisie.
FARNHAM UTD RAPIDS SPEED TO VICTORY
Farnham United Rapids started the tournament against Aldershot Angels and after dominating most of the game Maisie scored a great goal to put the Rapids 1 up. Gabi scored the Rapids' second & only when Aldershot scored from the resulting center did they start putting Farnham under pressure. The 2-1 score line ended up being final score thanks to a last ditch save on the line from Tess.
Goals from Rachel & Lois ensured a perfect start as the Rapids looked good against Mytchett Panthers in their second game. Final score 2-0.
The Rapids secured the top of the table with 3 wins from 3 after beating Beaulieu Belle Blacks 2-0 with a goal from Maisie and a really good team goal from Rachel.
In the semi-final the Rapids faced local rivals Aldershot Town Juniors and dominated the game from start to finish. A tough game and with the 'Shots keeper in fine form it went to a penalty shoot-out after no goals were scored in extra - time. The Rapids reached their first ever final with a 3-2 penalty win thanks to goals from, Rachel, Gabi & Maisie & a save from 'Keeper Tess.
The Final was a tough nerve wrencher of a game against a strong Sandhurst Sirens team. Not many chances in the first half for the Rapids but Sandhurst had a few which on another day may have been converted. With a couple of minutes to go Sandhurst broke the deadline when the Rapids didn't clear their lines quick enough & with only seconds to go a mad scramble in the Sandhurst box resulted in Lois scoring a Rapids equaliser. A really tense extra time period followed with not many chances and it looked like this final was going to be decided on penalties untill Rachel scored after a good move from Lois & maisie.
Every player was superb for the Rapids and it was a great team effort, well done!
